Crafting moments of inspired exploration

Just blocks from the birthplace of house music and located in Carpenter’s Addition – once owned by Chicago’s first pharmacist – Monos West Loop draws from both legacies, marrying rhythm and craft with a spirit of reinvention.

The store interior unfolds with a soaring, light-filled entry that gives way to soft curves, sculptural forms, and limewashed walls. At its heart, a luminous central counter draws the eye – a glowing architectural volume recalling the light boxes and vessels once used to display pharmaceutical remedies. Around it, built-in shelving forms quiet alcoves where products are presented with intention, while a central column doubles as a vertical display, letting luggage float like works of art.

Next door sits Postcard, our first food and beverage concept – a modern lounge at the intersection of music, design, and hospitality. Inspired by the liminal spirit of travel, Postcard is a space where chance connections can happen and the air is always humming with possibility.

Anchored by a custom sound system of vintage JBL speakers and a bespoke DJ booth with high-performance Technics turntables, Postcard treats music as ritual. Its program is curated by Uncanned, in collaboration with Alejandro Ayala (aka DJ King Hippo), weaving playlists and live sets that evolve with the rhythm of the day. A rotating lineup of local and international DJs ensures the soundscape is never the same twice.

A menu of light bites and beverages is complemented by partnerships with Chicago favourites – Metric Coffee, Rare Tea Cellars, Open Water, and Publican Quality Bread – alongside crafted zero-proof cocktails that extend our mindful approach into dining.

Together, the store and Postcard embody a new chapter for us: a place of gathering and exploration that bridges design, culture, and community – inviting guests to arrive as they are, and depart a little changed.
